Asian and Pacific Islander Community Coalition of Oregon (APICCO)
We are the Asian & Pacific Islander community’s most dynamic catalyst for change and proud to list our major accomplishments in the first two years as a non-profit. Here are some highlights:
APICCO’s flagship Internship Program includes the Legislative Internship, Summer Internship Development, and Train The Trainer program series.
We completed paid projects such as:
- Vietnamese speaking Focus Group Facilitation for one of our Latinx partners
- Emergency Broadband Benefit free cell phones with data plan for SNAP and low-income citizens
- TriMet Annual Service Change and Proposed Fare Increase API Open House for Centro Cultural de Washington County. We exceeded our participants goal with representation from diverse API communities.
APICCO established annual events: The Gala & Holiday Celebration
Gala
The Gala is a fundraiser for APICCO’s operational and Internship Program expenses.
Holiday Celebration
The Holiday celebration is family-oriented to bring together and thank our API community partners for their support.
APICCO participation and collaboration with our Community Partners:
- Asian Pacific American Institute of Congressional Studies (APAICS) and APICCO Portland Regional Leadership Academy (RLA) & Reception. The RLA is a two-day leadership training event for current elected officials, individuals seeking to run for public office, and community stakeholders.
- The annual Oregon Rise Above Hate in Old Town. APICCO participated in tabling for the two years since it started.
- APICCO Board Members attended the Portland Police Bureau APIA Advisory Council Community Forum | Public Safety and Community Well-Being.
- APICCO was selected to be a member on Portland General Electric Community Benefits and Impacts Advisory Group (CBIAG). CBIAG was mandated in HB2021 Clean Energy Act.
